We are thrilled once again to announce that we have just received an absolutely glowing review from VisitEngland and retained our Four Star Self Catering Gold Award for another year for Park House and Park Cottage.
Park Cottage has also retained its Accessibility Award Levels M1 an M2.
VisitEngland is the largest official assessment body of its kind and its Gold and Silver Awards celebrate accommodation establishments that outperform in their category, offering exceptional quality within their star rating. These awards help guests find special places where hosts go the extra mile, whatever the size, style or star rating of the accommodation.
Assessors make recommendations for the Awards based on their annual assessment. They look for quality in all areas, especially housekeeping, service and hospitality, bedrooms and bathrooms and the awards go to those who go the extra mile for their guests and visitors.
The following is taken from our assessment report:
- Situated in a quiet Somerset village, Cossington Park is an ideal base for exploring the area.
- Beautiful, well maintained gardens for guest use.
- Comfortable, well-appointed accommodation.
- Ample off road parking available.
- High standard of housekeeping throughout.
Housekeeping standards were excellent throughout both properties. The dining and living areas were spotlessly clean and free from dust at high and low levels. Bathroom sanitary ware was exceptionally clean, mirrors and chrome fittings sparkled. Tiled and wood floors were thoroughly cleaned, carpets well vacuumed. Kitchen units and equipment were extremely well presented. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean with polished wood surfaces and attention to high and low levels.
Management and Efficiency
The enquiry and booking procedures are very well established, guests are provided with detailed pre-arrival and property information and are met by the manager on arrival. A generous welcome pack is provided and a comprehensive information file is available which includes essential emergency, property and local information. The owners live close by and are available should the need arise.
A wide range of audio visual equipment, books and games are provided for guest use.
Living areas are presented to a high standard; neatly painted walls refreshed as required with original features and artworks adding to the presentation. Park House is particularly characterful. The paintwork is slightly scuffed in the morning room. A mix of hard flooring and carpet present to a very good standard. Oak flooring in Park Cottage is maintained in excellent condition. Ample easy seating of a period style and leather presents well, occasional furniture appears to be well maintained and placed for ease of guest movement. Overhead lighting and lamps are well placed to supplement natural light, central heating in Park House provides warmth and a superb log burner in the main lounge. Park Cottage has the additional benefit of underfloor heating. Ventilation appears to be effective. Park House is a large property with a choice of areas for guest use, Park Cottage has a very good size, well configured open plan living space.
Bedrooms in both properties are decorated to a high standard with paintwork refreshed as required, original features and artworks adding interest. Excellent wood floors and carpeting appear to be well maintained, scatter rugs provide additional comfort underfoot. Recently sanded wood floors present particularly well. Period furniture throughout is of a very good standard, ample space is provided for the storage of guest clothing items. Beds are sturdy with excellent mattresses, well protected, firm and supportive. All beds were immaculately dressed in Egyptian cotton with co-ordinated accessories and soft furnishings. Waffle bath robes and slippers have been provided for guest use this year. Lighting is well placed, heating and ventilation appear to be effective. Bedrooms are spacious and well configured.
Bathroom areas are very well presented with mixed decorative finishes and practical non slip flooring. High quality sanitary ware appears to be very well maintained and includes roll top baths and large shower units. Sealant and grouting noted to be in pristine condition. The new shower room in Trusty Servant presents very well. Very good recessed and task lighting. Heating and ventilation appear to be effective. The bathrooms are a very good size, well configured to allow guest ease of movement and the storage of guest own toiletries.
Well-presented kitchen areas; bright and spacious open plan in Park Cottage and a very good size room with separate utility in Park House. Excellent, well maintained tiled and wooden floors fitted. High quality wooden cupboards and surfaces throughout with plenty of space for the storage of guest items. Ample illumination from well-placed overhead and task lighting. Extraction appears to be effective. A wide range of very good quality equipment and appliances are provided. Ample crockery, good weight cutlery, glassware, pans and kitchen utensils are available.
